Introducing privacy features in moderator inbox

Currently, users within Khoros Aurora Communities lack direct control over who can send them private messages. Any registered user can initiate a private conversation with any other user, regardless of their role or permissions.

However, direct feedback from our customers consistently highlights a clear user need: the ability to mute or block other users both within the private message inbox and across the broader community. This project directly addresses these critical user requests, drawing on specific requirements gathered from multiple customer discussions.

My role in inbox Privacy

As a Senior Product Designer overseeing the entire Private Messaging Inbox for Khoros Aurora Communities, I designed and launched critical features, including user controls like mute/block functionality, directly addressing the previous lack of private message management.

In addition, My work involved close collaboration with a Junior Product Designer, who played a key role in conducting research and supporting the solution's evolution post-development.

Impact

This initiative significantly enhanced the user experience for a global user base of tens of millions across Khoros's 2,000+ brand communities, which collectively facilitate hundreds of millions of daily digital interactions, by fostering safer, more controlled, and more respectful online environments.
